Dean's Welcome

Presenting the second edition of Business Summer School, that will be held at the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, I invite you to take part in a program that will influence the way you look upon the world.

During two weeks experts in the investments field will come to Sibiu to obtain exceptional outcomes investing in the participants of this summer school.

The theme of the summer school is of novelty. Distinguishing this current wave of globalization from earlier ones, author Thomas Friedman said that today globalization is “farther, faster, cheaper, and deeper.”

This wave of globalization has been driven by policies that have opened economies domestically and internationally. In the years since the Second World War, and especially during the past two decades, many governments have adopted free-market economic systems, vastly increasing their own productive potential and creating myriad new opportunities for international trade and investment.

Companies are increasingly looking to emerging markets as a vital source for growth, as an important part of their globalization strategies. Here, at Business Summer School, you will discuss the shapes of these emerging markets and the factors that companies must consider when investing in an emerging market.

Do not miss this opportunity of a new educational concept that BSS offers from the summer 2008 onwards.

Prof. Nicolae Al. Pop
Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration (in foreign languages)

What I liked the most in the academic program was the directness of the lecturers, the variety of topics and the assessment method, which was a bit different from usual. Most importantly, however, I enjoyed the international ambience of people from China through Turkey to Mexico and of course Europe, and I'm happy I got to get a couple of very good friends whom I surely want to meet again in 2008.
